National Housing Authority launches website

The National Housing Authority of Pakistan took its investment seeking drive a step further by launching its new website. The site: www.nhagov.pk has useful information for national and international businessmen and prospective investors in housing and real Estate sectors.

Pakistan offers excellent investment opportunities to national and international builders in housing sector as the country needs massive development in this sector. The real estate sector in Pakistan is flourishing as there is a huge demand for housing. The national and foreign investors are playing an important role in several housing schemes in the country.

The Authority was established in 1987 with the primary objective of preparing short and long terms plans and policy guidelines and mobilizing financing resources for development of housing for low income groups. It was subsequently declared as an attached department of Ministry of Housing and Works in 2000.

NHA envisages ‘Housing for All’ through optimum mobilization of public-private resources for sustainable development. One of its major aims is to attract local and foreign investment in housing sector, apart from upgrading the existing sub-standard houses and providing affordable housing to low income groups of population in order to improve the overall quality of life in Pakistan.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, just after taking over as the new Prime Minister, announced launching of a programme to construct one million housing units annually. Other segments of the package include: regularizing kachi abadies, provision of better residential facility to the government employees, apartments for government employee on their retirement, and five-marla scheme in rural areas besides flats and 80 sq. meter houses in the urban areas.
