Pakistan’s bed linen free
from anti-dumping duty
LONDON: Pakistan’s
bed‑linen exports to Europe will no
longer be subjected to 5.8 per cent duty as the five year‑old penalty
expired on 6 March after none of the European Union member countries called for
its continuation.
A spokesperson of Pakistan High Commission in London expressed happiness
over the development and said this will make exports of Pakistan-made bed linen
even more competitive. “At the same time variable anti‑dumping duty on
exports of bed linen to EU for different textile companies of Pakistan has also expired,” the
spokesperson added.
The spokesperson pointed that the removal of 5.8% anti‑dumping
duty would provide a welcome opportunity of market access and business for the
traders importing cotton type bed‑linen from Pakistan as well as ensuring
equitable profit.
