Pakistan Week launched at LSE

 

London: Pakistan Society of London School of Economics Students Union is celebrating Pakistan Week from 22nd – 26th of February. The  celebrations  commenced this morning  with run of  popular folk  dance  Bhangra  performed by  Pakistani students and their  friends  from different  countries , here , Monday.

 

The purpose of organizing the  week is to  introduce  Pakistani culture to  the  British students as well as  to large  number  of international  students  studying at the world renowned London School of Economics.

 

The week  features  poetry , music, art, sports , traditional costumes  and popular  Pakistani  food  besides a Public Lecture  by Deputy  High  Commissioner  of Pakistan for UK Mr. Asif Ali Durrani  on 25th .  

 

The Bhangra run and Biryani competition, two main events this morning attracted large number of Pakistani and international students. A stall has been set up by the society at the Houghton Street where information about Pakistan is at display.   Mehndi stall for decorating hands of women students with Henna also attracted students in large numbers.

 

Ghazal night on 22nd, Movie night on 23rd and Cricket match on 24th   are prominent among the range of events full of festivity and enthusiasm.   A bus of TKC  restaurant decorated  with  Truck Art participating  in the  events is also an  attractive  feature  for  international  students for its unique art and  style.
