President Zardari telephones Cameron

 

President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated David Cameron over his appointment as Prime Minister on telephone, today.

 

While underscoring the importance Pakistan attaches to its deep rooted and diverse relations with the United Kingdom, the President assured that the democratic government in Pakistan would continue to extend its full cooperation to the new coalition government led by Mr. Cameron on all regional and international issues of common concern.

 

The leaders of the two countries had met many times earlier; however, this was the first contact after David Cameron assumed office of the Prime Minister.

 

Among the EU countries, the United Kingdom is the largest trading and investment partner of Pakistan.
