Appeal from the High Commissioner
Before the launch of law enforcement operation, the
Government of Pakistan exhausted all options to resolve the issue peacefully
through dialogue. While the government fulfilled its part of the deal, the
extremists continued to challenge the writ of the state and terrorised
the people of these areas. This operation has caused large scale dislocation
of approximately 1.5 million peace loving citizens of Swat and Malakand
Divisions, who have left their homes and taken shelter in Swabi
and Mardan districts of NWFP province.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan has established
“Special Fund for Victims of Terrorism” for the affectees. The High Commission for

required in the context of the relief efforts:
i.
Containerized latrines/wash rooms.
ii.
Large-size tents of 8 x 6 and 8 x 8 Meters.
iii.
Fire-fighting equipment.
iv.
Water bowzers and
v.
Generators 28 kVA and
